Synopsis

Eight months after the car crash that changed everything, FBI agent Aidan Talley is back at work. New department, new case and a new partner. Smart, athletic and handsome, Jameson Walker is twelve years his junior. Even if Aidan was ready to move on—and he's not—Jamie is off-limits.

Jamie's lusted after Aidan for three years, and the chance to work with San Francisco's top agent directly is too good to pass up. Aidan is prickly—to put it mildly—but a growing cyber threat soon proves Jamie's skills invaluable.

Jamie's talents paint a target on his back, and Aidan is determined to protect him. But with hack after hack threatening a high-security biocontainment facility, time is running out to thwart a deadly terrorist attack. They'll have to filter out distractions, on the case and in their partnership, to identify the real enemy, solve the case and save thousands of lives, including their own.

Debra’s Quick Bite

I spent a good part of last week finally binge reading this amazing series that’s been on my list since Freya’s reviews. The story starts here as two FBI agents, newly paired as partners, quickly start to fall for each other despite their better judgment, and it had me sucked in from the start. There’s a storyline that builds through the series, along with the romance and a smaller mystery that is wrapped up here. There are also the personal stories of both Agents Talley and Walker and their impact on the growing attraction. Aiden Talley (Irish) lost both his husband and his work partner in a crash that left him injured and out of work for 8 months and Jameson Walker (Whiskey) is a former college basketball star on his way to NBA who left the sport after an injury and is now working cyber crimes for the FBI. They both have issues, pasts and secrets, and both want the other, but try to control it – a losing battle for sure but it makes for good angst and tension for us. The moments of desire, jealousy and tenderness were so well built into the story, each one had me on edge waiting for the next.

I adored the growing relationship between the two, the mystery kept me wondering and the book left me wanting more. It’s not easy for the two men and there is angst, romance and danger throughout. The secondary characters are well-written too and add another dimension to the story. If you like action, crime thrillers, and a romance that has a lot of obstacles to work through you’ll love this story and be running for the next.

The World As He Sees It. (Perspectives #2)

Synopsis

Love knows no limits…but fear could keep them from seeing it.

Perspectives , Book 2

Gabe lives a double life. As Gabriel Henson, he works multiple jobs to support his remorseless, alcoholic mother. As Tony Ryder, he does internet porn for extra cash and regular safe sex without complications.

Yet when he encounters a scared young man freaking out in a night club, he’s compelled to reach out. Ever since then, the memory of that young man has haunted him.

Tristan Lavelle lives his life thirty minutes at a time. After a traumatic brain injury three years ago, he gets through his day recording his life in spiral notebooks and sticky note reminders.

A month after Tristan’s embarrassingly public meltdown, another chance meeting with Gabe sparks a warm, emotionally fulfilling email relationship. Both men crave more, but fear of the next step stands between them.

Until Tristan gets the opportunity to take part in a clinical trial that could improve his memory—if the side effects don’t kill him. But for Tristan, the possibility of a real life with Gabe is worth any risk…

Warning: Contains two damaged but lovable heroes, secret-keeping friends with good intentions, and an abundance of inappropriate food innuendo.

Jane’s Quick Bite

This is Tristan and Gabe’s story, we met them briefly in the first book in the series The Truth as he Knows it. After suffering a horrific attack Tristan has been left with severe short term memory loss with a memory span of about 30 minutes. He relies heavily on his notebooks for recall and lives in sheltered accommodation where his only visitors are his best friend Noel and Noel's boyfriend Shane. My heart just went out to Tristan, he is such a sweetheart and you can feel how lonely he is and he's desperate to try and reclaim some of his life back if he can. On an evening out with Noel & Shane they run into Gabe, who previously helped Tristan out when he had a panic attack at the club. Gabe has his own life issues to deal with but he strikes up a lovely relationship with Tristan. We see Tristan partake in a clinical trial to try to improve his memory and I was pleased with the outcome, whilst there is no miracle cure, he does make progress. This story is full of hope and love with some hot sex thrown in too, so if you like a couple of lovely guys dealing with life's issues and loving their way through them, then this is definitely worth a read.

This Fire Inside (Home is a Fire #3) by Jordan Nasser

Synopsis

Luke Walcott may have finally come out of the closet, but that doesn't mean there aren't shadows still lurking in the corners of his past.

Luke has never been happier now that his relationship with Derek is out in the open and their small Southern town has accepted them for who they are. But in an effort to get away from the commotion that arose after their relationship was revealed, Derek and Luke head to New York City for a well-deserved break. Little do they know that turmoil is waiting for them in those steamy city streets--and it will test the strength of their love.

This Fire Inside is the delightfully entertaining third installment of the Home Is a Fire series and invites readers back into the heartfelt world of Derek, Luke, Uncle Barry, and the Southern charms that shaped them all. Written with wit and warmth, This Fire Inside inspires readers to re-examine their own personal journeys.

As Derek and Luke find themselves redefining who they are together and what they might want apart, both men must fight for their own authentic truths. But through these trials, will their love survive? Will Derek and Luke find their happily ever after?

Mark’s Quick Bite

Oh, how I loved this series from Jordan Nasser. In this third book there is trouble in paradise between Luke and Derek. Just as we left Luke and Derek at the end of second book in what we thought is domestic bliss after mastering a number of sizeable obstacles together, in this book we have to face the reality of life and its unquestionable stress and strains on everyday relationships. Also we get to see more of Uncle Barry who plays a more prominent role with his own story. Altogether making for a riveting read that I could hardly put down.

For those readers who like low angst books, unicorns, rainbows, fluffy bunnies and dreamy happy-ever-afters ~ then be warned. DON’T GO HERE! This book dishes out the harsh reality of life, warts and all, no holds barred. And my goodness life is certainly happening in bucket loads in Parkville, Tennessee. There are many beautiful moments but also a good portion of authenticity. A book that left me with tears of pure joy streaming down my face at the end for fragile new beginnings.

If you haven’t started on this series already then I highly recommend you do. All books are beautifully written with loads of empathy and insight. Vivid characters you can fall in love with, who feel like best friends by the end of each book. Situations to laugh out loud over and to shed a tear over. What more could you want in a story.

  4. Debra has me convinced to bump up the Irish Whisky series on my TBR list. The giveaway has too many requirements that I can't fulfill (I don't do Facebook, don't yet do Instagram, Tumblr doesn't work for Kindle anymore and I can barely see on my phone's screen) so I'll have to wait for a sale to begin the series. That damned Debra-she shares my opinions and makes me want to read so many books! 😊

  9. I would read The World As He Sees It because I've read several books about people who live with TBI and it's a fascinating perspective to me. Plus, I love to read stories where people have to deal with real life odds like that and overcome them to find happiness and peace.

  22. I don't know how to choose... Single Malt (Agents Irish & Whiskey #1) by Layla Reyne looks great and is on my TBR list, and This Fire Inside (Home is a Fire #3) by Jordan Nasser is already a winner as Mark's rec and would complete my set of the series as I was lucky to win the first 2 books in another giveaway here. And I'm always curious about books dealing with amnesia so The World As He Sees It (Perspectives #2) by A.M. Arthur would be nice too... I think I'll deal with choice on impulse if I'm the lucky winner ;)
    Thanks for the chance!
